Padraig Jack was born into a musical family from the Aran islands. His dad is the songwriter Barry Ronan and he is the nephew of the Irish poet and Aosdána member Mary O’Malley. A native of Aran which has produced writers Liam O Flaithearta, Máirtín Ó Direáin and Breandán Ó hEithir, Padraig is proudly bilingual both as a conversationalist and a songwriter.

A songwriter and composer who writes and sings meaningful songs on guitar and piano in Gaelic and English, his debut album ‘Making Sand’ was named the RTE Radio Album of the Week garnering critical acclaim from Hot Press, Rock’n’Reel magazine (UK) and The Alternate Root (US) and the title track was nominated for ‘Best Original Track’ at the RTE Folk Awards. Padraig is currently recording his second album with renowned producer John Reynolds (Sinead O Connor, Damien Dempsey). 

Padraig tours regularly in Ireland and the UK and is currently on a perpetual tour in the UK with Miles Hunt of The Wonder Stuff. Having opened for Damien Dempsey in Vicar St and to a crowd of 4,000 in the Iveagh Gardens last year, Padraig started this year with tours of Wales and the Basque country and playing shows all around Ireland in 2023 including at Doolin Folk Fest and Galway Folk Festival. He returns to his weekly residency show at Joe Wattys in the Aran islands for July and August 2023 as well as playing his biggest headline show in Dublin to date in The Unitarian Church on September 2nd. 

Padraig Jack’s recent single ‘It Could Be Home’ was added to the RTE Recommends list for two weeks on its release in April and was the first single of his upcoming second album which will be released in 2024. His latest single ‘What Is Love’ is released in July.
